Atoms

Democritus was a Greek philosopher who was the first person to use the term atom (atomos: meaning indivisible). He thought that if you take a piece of matter and divide it and continue to divide it you will eventually come to a point where you could not divide it any more.

An atom is the smallest unit of ordinary matter that forms a chemical element. Every solid, liquid, gas, and plasma is composed of neutral or ionized atomsAtoms are extremely small, typically around 100 Pico meters across. All matter consists of indivisible particles called atomsAtoms of the same element are similar in shape and mass, but differ from the atoms of other elements. Atoms cannot be created or destroyed
